Rosacea and Bacterial Overgrowth Study

Dr Weinstock from Specialists in Gastroentology and Dr Steinhoff from the University of California San Francisco are reporting their experience with rosacea and bacterial overgrowth in an article entitled, “Rosacea and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth: prevalence and response to rifaximin” in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. This winter, the doctors will be starting a randomized, placebo controlled study of rifaximin in patients with rosacea in California. Dr. Weinstock will be analyzing the bacterial condition of the intestine and Dr. Steinhoff will be monitoring the drug study.
